     Portmeirion Village

Portmeirion village is situated between Porthmadog and Harlech.

It is surrounded by the Gwyllt woodland gardens containing many rare Himalayan flowering trees and other exotics. Sir Clough Williams-Ellis built Portmeirion between 1925 to 1972 just 5 miles from his ancestral home.

Portmeirion is open daily and contains a hotel, restaurant and several interesting shops. Portmeirion was the setting for the 1960's cult television series 'The Prisoner'.

Llechwedd Slate Caverns

At LLechwedd Slate Caverns you can explore the underground world of the Victorian slate miner with a spectacular underground lake and a Victorian village with pub. The mine is situated at Blaenau Ffestiniog and can be combined with a trip on Ffestiniog Railway to and from Porthmadog.
